No Smoke No Poke

Not your average family 5 door

Having been involved in the VAG scene for nearly 10 years, Chris Everiss and his wife weren’t going to give it all up without a fight with the arrival of their new-born daughter.
The plan had always been for Chris to buy his mum’s three door Audi A3 and so for six months he’d been collecting various parts for it - including an RS6 steering wheel, RS4 gear knob, MK2 Audi TT air vents and a few other bits and bobs. Once they realised they would be getting a new co-pilot, it soon became apparent that chucking a growing child in and out of the back seats was going to be an issue. Not quite ready to reside himself to a Citroen Picasso, Chris looked around for a 5 door A3 instead.

Keeping his eye out for a suitable Sportback - which Chris insists has a nicer back end than the three door - the only items on his tick list were Xenon lights and Bose stereo, as everything else was easy to retrofit. In July 2010 Chris picked up the black beauty you see here from his local Audi dealership and began building his dream diesel.

Having a young family to look after, the car had to come (a very close) second to his duties as a father. So there was no open cheque book to abuse and Chris quickly built up a reputation for finding bargains on ebay, like his Audi S5 front seats which he picked up for £200 from a breaker. He then had them re-trimmed in black leather with a red diamond stitch in a similar style to the factory RS3 interior.

Chris - “I saw them on eBay and gave the guy a call to see how much he wanted for them to end the auction early if I went to collect them. When he told me the price, who was I to refuse?”

Tarox B34-GT10 front brakes and grooved discs nestle under the 19″ forged OZ Superlegera III’s and Audi S3 rear brakes under the rears.

The Black Optics Grille, S3 side skirts and S3 rear diffuser add to the car’s OEM+ look.
Chris - “My style is very OEM+, I like people to double take the car!”

The stance is thanks to Airlift Digital Air Ride with twin compressors, which replaced the KW V3 coilovers Chris ran at first. Chris maintains that the choice was mainly practical due to the amount of speed bumps around, but we’re not so sure we believe him…

Plans for the future include a few more carbon mods, RNSE Sat Nav in the dash and some more engine work courtesy of the boys at Forge Motorsport.
