Trident Iceni Grand Tourer - The worlds most economical supercar?

When we heard about a new diesel supercar capable of 200mph and up to 2000 miles on a single tank of fuel we let out a sigh, “If only” we said. It’s not a stretch to believe that a diesel engined car would hit 200mph, if it was teamed up with the right chassis and aero mods - look at the Darkside Jetta for example, that thing is only 46mph short and it’s as slippery as a house brick. But 2000 miles on a single tank of fuel? We weren’t sold, a car like that could only be the thing of myth and legend.

Bentley Finally Build an Oil Burner

Former Bentley CEO Franz-Josef Paefgen was never a fan of diesel, and it appearsRolls-Royce isn’t either, however, Volkswagen Group dynamo Wolfgang Dürheimer, who was brought in back in 2010 to oversee Bentley’s expansion into the world of SUVs and advanced powertrains, does see a future for diesel in ultra-luxury vehicles. He’s hinted at the launch of a diesel Bentley on several occasions, as well as more advanced plug-in hybrid models, and in a recent interview has reaffirmed those intentions.

ABT Boosted Bug

The German tuning house ABT Sportsline has recently launched a modification program, this time targeting the new Vee Dub Beetle powered by the 2.0 TDI engine. The package come with a host of performance goodies under the bonnet as well as the aggressively restyled body kit (aggressive for a beetle that is).

German tuning house Lumma Design built this dramatic looking CLR 550 GT - their version of the Porsche Cayenne - for a customer recently. They’ve been creating a new version of the CLR 550GT for the last few years, but in 2012 they decided to release three variants of the marque.

192Bhp Bi-Turbo Vauxhall Astra

Opel and its sister company Vauxhall are expanding the availability of the firm’s new 2.0-liter BiTurbo CDTI diesel engine in the recently updated (and might we add, damned good looking) Astra range.

First offered on the Astra GTC three-door hatch, this engine range is now available for order on the Astra five-door hatchback and the Astra Sports Tourer station wagon with deliveries expected towards the end of 2012 (for both the Opel and Vauxhall brands).

Mercedes SLS AMG Diesel?

When an email dropped in to our inbox this morning suggesting we may see a Mercedes SLS diesel by the end of the year, everything was stopped to investigate.
Polish website moto.pl has reported that Mercedes would be unveiling their SLS CDI at the Paris Motor Show in September. And what’s more, the power plant is rumoured to be a tri-turbo V6 kicking out 400bhp.

Audi have released details of their first ever diesel powered S model, the 313bhp and 479ftlb SQ5.
Reaching 60mph quicker than an Audi S3 and with enough luggage space to swallow the whole Louis Vuitton range, this car is certainly going to change peoples opinions of SUVs when it hits the roads in 2013.
