As I said in the other thread, after experiencing Wayno84's fiesta today, Hybrid turbo's are DEFINATELY the way forward!

K33VRN

yer just the price and hassle of it all doesnt give major power increase. what was it like 13bhp and 15lbft?

wayno84
02-05-2010, 03:57 PM
its not all about pub figures. now that i sorted the air leak it holds the bhp and torque alot longer than a standard remapped zs so there are benefits to have from a hybrid turbo if the figures aint great,
once i find an upgrade for the bar map sensor are be able to run more boost. because the stock one has a max of 2.5 bar.

was always an admirer of the st you had, and this im sure will look every bit as good as the st. =D>

That's only peak figures though. Without looking at the dyno graphs the hybrid might have added say 40lbft elsewhere in the range, but it could easily be overlooked as it's not 40lbft added onto the peak figures.

Anyway, liked the ST before this and sure this will turn out just as good! It's well on it's way atm!

mmmmmm see what you mean, well i will let wayno finish his and then once done i know what to get and ruf idea of costs :) so will see.

thanks for the comments peeps :) :-D

jammapic

The graphs shows that it's got so much more torque all the way through the rev range, plus it pulls harder from lower revs. Maybe peak figures are only 20bhp/lbft (even though Wayne's has so much more to give on that turbo!) but once you've been in it you'll know it was worth every penny... trust me!

haha i will dw :)

the cars getting re-mapped after the kits installed. as i want the best from it :) best route right?

jammapic
14-09-2010, 02:10 PM
Definately.

You'll probably notice a decent increase when on Water/Meth alone, but once the mapping is dialled in it will blow your nuts off....

...just be prepared for some clutch slip. You will probably have to go down the route of an uprated clutch as it will make pretty big torque with water / meth and mapping.

JP

K33VRN
14-09-2010, 02:16 PM
fml lol how much am i looking at to have a clutch fitted?

Twed207
14-09-2010, 02:18 PM
new clutch will probably be around 250 for a paddle clutch. dont know how long it will take to do it though... 6 - 8 hours?

jammapic
14-09-2010, 02:25 PM
I don't know - one of the Fiesta boys will tell you.

I know for a fact that when Wayne fitted his hybrid turbo the clutch just laughed and slipped constantly, if you go down the remap and meth route you will be getting very close to slip territory.

JP

K33VRN
14-09-2010, 02:27 PM
mm i will see how it holds out and if be i need one then i will lol already got the quiafe LSD so that should help with torque :D

jammapic
14-09-2010, 02:29 PM
I would think the quaife will make it worse if anything - as it will grip a lot better, meaning the poor clutch has even more to deal with!

I think it would be worth sorting a hardcore clutch out first mate, because I know that Paul @ RSTuning had to tame the torque back for Wayne's to make it drivable... If it were me I'd rather not have to go back for a change to the mapping....

jammapic

I know he has a hybrid, but I think you'll be surprised how much more torque the map and meth alone will give you.. I'm just saying, I'd air on the side of caution!

Twed was pretty much bang on for what I paid for my clutch. Not a Fiesta, but to give you an idea a 1.6 HDi with FAP is 7 hours for the clutch on the book.

badman007
15-09-2010, 01:55 PM
for peace of mind i get a clutch, with just a remap the standard clutch is sufficient but if there is more torque to be had from the Water Methanol injection system then there a chance the clutch will slip, then the mapper have to tailor the map so the engine cant run to be best of its ablities

badman007
15-09-2010, 02:03 PM
another thing if you eventually going to go for a hybrid if youn are thinking of going down that route soon why not wait and get all your bits together then get your car mapped saves you having to pay for a full map twice, changing parts like injectors, turbos you have to have a full map and not just a tweak

K33VRN
15-09-2010, 05:13 PM
im not going to bother with the hybrid tbh, just want to keep it reliable. so the meth kit and remap do me fine i rekon. cant afford to spend 1k+ on a turbo that doesnt increase the power even by 10% lol

i have also bought a helix paddle clutch, being fitted at ford on friday :D

Looks good matey!! What's the torque rating of that clutch?

BTW - just so as you know, a hybrid turbo will increase BHP and Torque by around 15% over a 1.6 TDCI which is only mapped. To be honest though, that's irrelevant - it's the way there is more torque EVERYWHERE in the rev range. In some places there is an extra 30% torque available over just a map, or another 67% over the standard vehicle!!!!

UPDATE

sooooooooooooooooooooooo time to update on this

was a LONG drive up to leeds from london for me today lol even more so it was mostly 50mph average speed :/

got to RStuning just after 10am soon followed by jammapic and tdcist from TDOC. (was good to meet you guys!)

we wanted to test this methonal kit firstly as i was the first to have it done with a map to get any real info on what the kit gives factually not just figures here and there, and i used a 50/50 mix (water / methonal). we asked paul to do a run as standard with the Devils own methonal kit on and without the kit on....and from the results below you can see the kit made absolutly no differance what so ever! bit of a downer but thought maybe with the map it might bring the kit out abit.

(like to add it made 98bhp standard :D )

so paul done is handy work and got on with the mapping, which gave results of 124bhp and 210 lb/ft :) so was happy with that, but then we done a second run without the meth kit and what do you know...it gave the same figures! so was majorly dissapointed :( 300 spent on somthing that game me nothing.

i have spoke with Alfie the fitter and we are going to see next sat if all is ok as even he was shocked, and also sort the pain the bum leak out. but i have had a good nose and everything seems to be in working order... :/

End of the day im majorly dissapointed with somthing i thought was going to be a hit! as im sure many others will be unless we can sort it. Paul said he had another car in yesterday with the devils own kit and that too made no figures, yet an Ibiza cupra he had done before with the devils own kit did make a fair bit more power with it. so somthing doesnt add up...

hoping we can sort it as its all fitted now, otherwise at least get a refund for the product itself, as for me it hasnt done what it says on the box :(

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t39/england66kev/IMG_0042.jpg

BUT on another note, wow the car does pull now!!! the drive home was niiiice, an ST also wanted a little play (some1 from STOC as had club stickers) and i was pulling away untill lets say ''a certain speed'' lol which when his rev range was better and top speed. so seems its nippyer than a standerd st untill higher speeds, if his was standard but it did look it!

also not only that....but this ;) :O after 2 hours driving, diesels a winner in some areas aye ;)

Looking pretty nice ! Shame about the meth kit though. How on earth did you manage 70 mpg, thats pretty insane. Mine dropped after my remap by about 4mpg ;( not driving right foot heavy either !

Would have come also, but didn't realise others were going :(

After seeing those results, id kill to have a 1.6tdci dropped in to replace my 1.4tdci :D

Also k33vern what size silicone hosing did you use for your intercooler conversion?? i got the pipes and the intercooler, will the 2.25 silicone hosing fit onto the turbo and the other part if that makes sense ( where on yours you open your bonnet and see the 2 green hoses). if i get those in 2.25 will they fit?? my pipe kit is 2.25 so itll fit onto those but what about the engine parts it fits onto?? thanks and hope you can help.

on my way to leeds i got 62MPG on the way down and 60 on the way back (i gave it some abit.. lol).

i think my average has gone down a little after a map but this might be cos of the cold air and doing lots of short trips too. i think my mpg went down lastyear when it was cold too... lol

nah no luck...i basically had to spend more to try and sort it i.e. buying more parts to try in diff areas which i couldnt be assed with, also maybe im not pushing enough power to get anything from it...but imo shouldnt be advertised as giving power if it doesnt always!

will be a good kit for when i get the RB320 though..so will just take off mine and fit to that when i get it lol but at least ino its keeping the engine clean atm lol

Car look reali nice 2 questions were did you get you air filter and hw do you do that to lights the White in them ?

the lights i can answer lol, you need to remove the lights from the car, and if your oven is big enough, put them in there for a while to loosen the glue around the lense then pry apart using a screwdriver or something.

Prime, spray and lacquer if you want, then either put the body and lense in the oven to warm the glue again and then stick the body and lense together, put some tape around it all to hold if tightly while it sets.

If your oven isn't big enough, or you don't want to use the oven use a heat gun.

The airfilter, i'm not sure bu would be interested so i can get on aswel.
