YBLEGAL's EGR blanking plate fitting guide 1.4/1.6 TDCI/HDI

For the 1.4 tdci fiesta, from when i did mine. It would be almost the same to fit to a 1.6 TDCI/HDi.

    1. Best type of blanking plate as it does not involve complete removal of the bolts just loosening (available from e-Bay.)

    2. Pretty simple, pop the air box off. Pop the plug off on the air flow sensor, loosen the jubilee clip on the hose. Look down the right hand side where the intake pipe runs into the air box there will be a screw that goes into the pipe to hold it in place, unscrew this and loosen the pipe from the back of the air box. Then its just 2 screws on the front of the air box and the entire box will pop off.

    3. Next up is the fuel filter, remove the metal guard on the top of the filter via 2 screws, then comes the messy bit, pop off the 2 fuel pipes going into the filter they will squirt some diesel so plenty of rags needed. There is one screw on the side of the filter which needs unscrewed then the filter will twist off then theres just one electrical connector on the bottom of the filter that unclips.

    4. This is where having an EGR blank plate with slits instead of a holes makes life easy. Theres 2 bolts on the EGR valve that need to be loosened, not completely just till theres a 2-3 mm gap so the EGR plate will easily pop in. It is a tight area to get into and once itís lined up a few taps with the handle of a hammer will seat it properly. Then itís just a simple case of tightening the EGR back up and doing the reverse to putting everything back together. Cause the fuel filter was removed you will have to prime the system back up which is done by pumping the prime ball on the top of the engine near the oil filler, keep pumping until all the air bubbles disappear from the clear pipe on the end of the prime ball and enjoy.

No fault lights on my wife's 1.6 90 hdi Picasso, been on for 6 month or so now. Feels a little perkier and economy improved a little.

It's shaped that way so you can fit and remove it easier.
