Peugeot 206 2.0 Hdi (90 BHP) no power and no engine faults

Hi just got a 206 2.0 Hdi (90 BHP), long story short, I test drove it in rush hour traffic and engine appeared ok, then got to a straight road and it had no power at all, struggling up hill in 2nd gear.

So I've unplugged the MAF (No change)
Got the ODB2 cable and checked for any ECU faults (none)
Replaced the turbo, after being told this had gone by a garage (No change).

Anybody have any thoughts what I can try next ???

Just to recap, there is no power in any gear, 1st/2nd are terrible
There is no black smoke from the exhaust
Engine starts and idles just fine
There is a delay when I press the accelerator in Neutral, it takes a second to respond and then revs to around 3k rpm flat out.

    Thanks in advance

you want to read my post in the how to section on fault finding lack of boost first page Click here to enlarge it may be of use.

    http://www.tdocuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=13400

read that but my guess is either faulty dozer valve (not closing) egr valve stuck open or vacuum pipe it will play up at 3k and no its not in limp mode..

Well had a brief attempt at getting the EGR valve off but one of the nuts is just so hard to get too (The one going into the exhaust manifold underneath the pipe leading to the inlet manifold), has anyone done this on a 206 2.0 Hdi ? and if so is there an easier way to get into it ?.
Will have another go next weekend when hopefully not snowing.

yeah they are really bad to get too, maybe worth asking around to borrow some ramps as you can get the car high enough to attack from underneath and be able to move your arms enough..savage isnt it!! mines the same..

even then it wont be easy to do as there is bottom arms and pipework below it, but it is possible

Thanks 306, going to try the ramps this weekend weather permitting, simple jobs but dear god they are hard to get to on the back end of the engine.
Got a blanking plate on order so hopefully will never have to venture there again !.

Car working and running great, So what was it ???

and let this be a lesson to all 206 owners with a similar problem.

As I said I took it to a garage who said "Turbo gone, get it too the auctions and just get what you can"

Anyway in a moment of clarity I decided to check everything from the start and after all this it was the throttle retaining clip that had come of at the engine end.

It's a little clip that allows you to adjust for slack in the cable, sits front right of engine and takes about 2 mins to sort out.

Although it was very silly of me to miss this, I'm a little annoyed the garage did the same and gave me a wrong diagnosis, then charged me for it, lol.

Thanks for all your help with this problem.
